Official polling card distribution for the 2024 General Election is complete, according to Deputy Postmaster General (Operations) Rajitha K. Ranasinghe.

97% of the officials polling cards have been distributed, according to Ranasinghe.

He said people can pick up their official polling cards at their local post office during working hours if they haven’t received them yet. He added that this will remain in effect until the election date.

97% of the official ballots have been distributed thus far. The Election Commission has sent us more than 171 million official ballots. Over 165 million ballots have been distributed thus far,” Ranasinghe added.

What to do if you haven’t received your polling card for the general election in 2024?

The Deputy Postmaster General added that if a recipient was not home when the polling cards were delivered, they were held at their assigned post office. The distribution process also required recipients to sign for their polling cards.

Thus, he explained, “the postal department has made it possible for anyone who has not stayed at home on weekdays to go to their local post office, verify their identity, and receive their official polling cards until November 14, which is the day of the election.”

However, if voters can produce the required identification, they will be permitted to exercise their right to vote even if they do not have an official polling card.
