The south-west Bay of Bengal is expected to see the formation of a low-pressure area today . Its influence will result in favourable atmospheric conditions for afternoon thunderstorms in most parts of the island starting on tomorrow.
In some places of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces as well as in the Galle and Matara districts, misty conditions are expected to occur in the morning.

There will be several shower spells across the Northern Province. There are other locations where showers or thundershowers may happen in the evening or at night. There are several places in the Eastern, Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces where quite heavy showers above 50 mm are likely to occur.
When thundershowers occur, the public is requested to take the necessary precautions to minimize the damage caused by lightning and brief, localized strong winds.
