At an unprotected railway crossing on Amarasena Mawatha in Hikkaduwa, a train hit a 66-year-old woman, killed her.
The train was on its way from Galle to Aluthgama when the accident occurred last night (09).

A post-mortem was performed at the Karapitiya Hospital after the victim, who was identified as a resident of Walpitimulla in the Dewalapola area, was transported there.
The hospital mortuary is currently housing the body. The incident is being investigated further by Hikkaduwa Police.
