Due to the 2024 General Election, the Ministry of Education (MoE) announced that all schools on the island will be closed on November 13 and 14.
On November 18, the closed schools are scheduled to reopen.
November 14 (Thursday) is the date of the 2024 parliamentary election.
“General Elections – All schools will be closed for the General Elections on the 13 and 14 of November.”
As a result, after school on November 12, the schools that will serve as polling stations must be handed over to the relevant Grama Niladhari Officers.
The principals of all schools and Zonal Education Directors have been notified to supply the tables, chairs, and hall space required for the polling station operations.
Furthermore, in response to the Election Commission Chairman’s request, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced that schools used as counting centres will only be closed for the period of the relevant document.
