At the arrival terminal of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, officers from the Airport Police Station conducted a raid last night (01) and arrested a suspect with a large consignment of cardamom that had been illegally smuggled into Sri Lanka from Dubai.

The suspect was found in possession of eight mobile phones and 300 grams and 76 kilogrammes of cardamom, the police said.
The event is being investigated further by the Airport Police, and the suspect is a 48-year-old Colombo 12 resident.
