Within the next two to three days, the travel advisories that have been issued for Sri Lanka by several of foreign countries may be rescinded, said Public Security Minister Vijitha Herath.

This was said by Minister Herath at a special press conference that was held in Colombo yesterday (24), to provide an update on the actions taken in response to information of possible attacks in Sri Lanka that target foreign tourists.

He told the public and tourists that there is no cause for concern because all the necessary security measures have been made to protect the safety of the foreign tourists.

Travel Advisories, for Sri Lanka can be withdrawn in two to three days – Minister

“The Tourism Authority and the hotels have provided them with information. Both the police and the tri-forces have taken the steps required. Tourists are therefore free to travel. Within two to three days, countries that have issued travel advisories will be able to withdraw them, the Minister said.

The Minister stated, “We will return to normal in a few days, which will allow the lifting of travel advice issued by the United States and other countries. These nations are confident in sending their citizens to Sri Lanka for tourism because they are already happy with the measures we have put in implemented.

Arrivals of tourists have not been affected. Israeli tourists arrived in Sri Lanka without any problems even the day before. Those who are here now are travelling freely and without any hindrances. We’ve already managed the situation well,” he said.

He added that since every security precaution has been taken to guarantee their protection, the public—both local and foreign—need not worry about potential attacks on Israelis or any others.
