According to the Meteorological Department, showers or thundershowers are predicted to times occur in the districts of Trincomalee, Western, and Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western, and Northern provinces.
In several places of the Southern Province, heavy rainfall above 100 mm is predicted.
“Weather report – A lot of showers is expected in several areas of the island”
It further stated that during the evening or night, there may be showers or thundershowers in a number of other parts of the island, with some locations perhaps seeing pretty heavy rainfall over 50 mm.
Thus, during thundershowers, the general public is kindly requested to take appropriate precautions to minimize damages caused by transient, localized strong winds and lightning.
