The Meteorological Department predicts that thundershowers or showers will occasionally occur in the Northern Province, with some places likely to see very heavy showers over 50 mm.
There will be several spells of showers in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara-Eliya as well as in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces.
“Weather report – There will be several spells of light showers in some areas of the island.”
It further stated that throughout the evening or night, showers or thundershowers may occur in a few places in the province of Uva as well as in the districts of Ampara and Batticaloa.
Thus, during thundershowers, the general public is kindly asked to take appropriate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary, localised strong winds and lightning.
