Following a protracted trial in the Galle High Court, the accused in a long-running homicide case was found guilty and given the death penalty.

The 50-year-old accused, who resided in the Imaduwa area, was found guilty on February 6, 2000, of killing someone by purposefully electrocuting them to death in the Koratuhenagoda neighbourhood of the Imaduwa police division.
After the Galle High Court trial came to conclusion yesterday (16), the death penalty was handed down.
