Last Thursday (11), President Anura Kumara Dissanayake gave the Ministry of Finance officials instruction to give all pensioners a monthly interim allowance of 3,000 rupees.
After reviewing the delay in including the allowance to the October pension, the President made this statement.
“Pensioners allowance of Rupees 3000 per month approved”
The President said that despite the government’s ongoing financial struggles, this decision was made with the difficulties experienced by pensioners in mind.
Since the October pension payments have already been made, Rs 3,000 will be disbursed next week.
Pensions will receive an added Rs 3,000 from next month.
