The Meteorological Department says that because of the development of an atmospheric disturbance in Sri Lanka, the prevailing showery conditions are predicted to continue.
It said, issuing warnings for heavy rainfall that showers or thundershowers will occasionally occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North western provinces.
“Met Department – heavy rainfall expected to be over 200 mm ”
It said that there is a chance of very heavy showers over 200 mm in certain areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.
Kindly necessary steps to reduce the harm that transient, locally strong winds and lightning during thundershowers can cause.
