In light of the Sri Lanka Army’s 75th anniversary yesterday (10), 139 officers and 1,273 other ranks (Regular Force and Volunteer Force) have been promoted to their respective next ranks.

On the recommendation of the Ministry of Defence and Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, approved the promotions.

As accordingly, the Officers’ category has seen the promotion of 131 Lieutenants to the rank of Captain (Including Quarter Masters) and 08 Second Lieutenants to the rank of Lieutenant (Regular Force & Volunteer Force).

A total of 346 corporals, 111 Lance Corporals, 152 Privates (Regular Force and Volunteer Force), and 99 Warrant Officers-II to the rank of Warrant Officer-I, 185 Staff Sergeants to the rank of Warrant Officer-II, 380 Sergeants to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and 346 corporals to the rank of Sergeant have all been promoted in the Other Ranks category.
