The Japanese Embassy’s Defence Attaché, Captain Yuki Yokohari, accompanied Mr. Kamoshida on his courtesy call to Defence Secretary Air vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at the Defence Headquarters Complex in Sri Jayewardenepura, Kotte, yesterday (October 09). The Ministry of Defence said in a statement that Defence Secretary A.V.M. Thuyacontha (Retrd) warmly received the Japanese delegation and had a cordial discussion.

Japan and Sri Lanka are exploring avenues to strengthen the security co-operation.

Both officials explored ways to enhance bilateral relations and defence cooperation during their meeting. According to the statement, the meeting also highlighted the two countries’ shared values and historical ties.

Then, to commemorate the event, Mr. Kamoshida and the Defence Secretary traded mementos. Air vice Marshal Padman De Costa, the Ministry of Defence’s Military Liaison Officer, was also in present, according to the ministry.
