Following his official arrival in Sri Lanka this morning, Indian Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Subramanian Jaishankar held separate meetings with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and former Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today.
Jaishankar met with his counterpart Vijitha Herath at the Foreign Ministry earlier today and also paid a visit to Anura Kumara Dissanayake, new appointed president of Sri Lanka, at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
After meeting with the new prime minister of Sri Lanka, the Indian foreign minister posted on ‘X,’ which was formerly Twitter, expressing his best wishes for her new responsibility

We discussed about capacity building, training, and digital public infrastructure, agreed to work together in order to strengthen our partnership,” he said.
Following their meeting, Jaishankar said his thanks to Wickremesinghe for his efforts in strengthening their relationship over the last two years and expressed his pleasure at seeing the former President in person.
Additionally, he “assured him that India will continue to commit to Sri Lanka’s economic recovery and development,” according to the Indian Foreign Minister.
Following their meeting, Jaishankar stated that India is grateful for Sajith Premadasa’s ongoing support of the bilateral relations between India and Sri Lanka.
