The “Colombo International Book Fair,” which is being hosted for the 25th time in celebration of Literature Month at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall in Colombo, was attended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday (28).
The National Policy on Children’s Books was drafted and presented to President Dissanayake by Samantha Indeewara, President of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, during the ceremony.

After visiting a number of booths exhibiting both domestic and foreign literature, the President had a brief conversation with attendees. Public reaction to the President was overwhelmingly positive. This year the fair had about 400 stalls, and a sizable throng had gathered, reported to the PMD.
The “Colombo International Book Fair,” which is held yearly by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, is held at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall from September 27 to October 6.
Senior academic and government officials also attended the event, including Ruwandika Senanayake, Head of the Department of Contemporary Design at the University of Moratuwa, Additional Secretary Udara Dikkumbura from the Ministry of Education, Director Samanthi Jayasuriya, and Senior Professor Liyanage Amarakeerthi from the University of Peradeniya.
