Just moments ago, Anura Kumara Dissanayake took the oath of office as the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka’s ninth executive.
He took the oath of office as the country’s new president in front of Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
“Anura Kumara Dissanayake sworn in as Sri Lanka’s president.”
After Dissanayake arrived at the Presidential Secretariat, the swearing-in ceremony started.
Following the second round of counting, 56-year-old Anura Kumara Dissanayake was proclaimed the winner by the Election Commission Friday night.
