On September 21, the day of the presidential election, the regular Saturday train timetable will be in effect, according to Nandana Idipolage, Deputy General Manager of Railways.
“Train services will run on Election Day as usual.”
In response to a question from SB News, he went on to say that on Sunday, February 22, long-distance trains will run and that there could be a drop in short-distance train journeys.
In the meantime, the Department of Railways has taken action to run a dedicated train for government employees and security personnel doing election-related tasks between Colombo Fort and Kankesanturai.
