As the presidential election draws closer, the National People’s Power (NPP) presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake claims that the opposition has turned to disinformation and scare tactics. Dissanayake made these claims last Sunday (15) during a political gathering in Mawanella. Dissanayake alleged that an SJB MP had said at a recent meeting in Kandy that the Kandy Esala Perahera will be outlawed by the NPP administration. “They claim we would cancel the perahera at Ethkanda Viharaya in Kurunegala. He remarked, “They go to villages and tell business owners that we will not allow private enterprise.
“Misinformation campaign against NPP is perturbing.”
They also spread rumours that we will reduce Samurdhi benefits.”According to Dissanayake, certain politicians are trying to persuade the Muslim community that the NPP would halt celebrating their religious holidays, ban the hijab, and prevent males from growing facial hair.What does this suggest?
