After September 21, Sajith Premadasa, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) presidential candidate, promised to bring about a revolutionary change in Sri Lanka’s health care system.

Premadasa said, “After the 21st, we will have the opportunity to address the critical issues that have long plagued our health system,” during a speech at a health conference held in Colombo.

He also emphasised that conventional public money and investment are insufficient to completely overhaul Sri Lanka’s healthcare system. Rather, he pushed for a new strategy that incorporates a strong foster care system in each and every hospital and Medical Officer of Health (MOH) division in this country.

Sajith promises to completely transform the healthcare system in Sri Lanka and address serious issues.

Premadasa suggested adding a system of charitable giving to augment government support. He pointed out that “even though different stakeholders frequently emphasise allotments as a percentage of GDP, we need to understand that government investment alone is insufficient to revitalise our health system.”

Additionally, the SJB candidate emphasised the need of preventative healthcare initiatives. He vowed to strengthen the preventative programs already in place under the MOH divisions in order to guarantee healthier lives for all Sri Lankans.
