Sajith stresses the value of protecting and appreciating the country’s cultural heritage.

Sajith Premadasa, the head of the opposition and SJB, promised on last  Sunday to recognise the country’s traditional heritage legacy appropriately if elected president.

Speaking at the Samagi Sri Lankan Folk Cultural Conference in Colombo, Premadasa said his intention to assist those engaged in art and crafts endeavours. He underlined how crucial it is to protect and honour the cultural heritage of the nation.

“We will provide anyone engaged in arts and crafts throughout the nation with a unique identity card at the local government level after we win the next election. After that, legislation will be introduced to acknowledge persons working in these fields. We must give our country’s historic legacy the respect and honour it deserves,” Premadasa stated.
