Due to the 2024 Presidential Election, the Ministry of Education  has declared that all schools on the island would be closed on Friday, September 20.

September 23 is when the shuttered schools are supposed to reopen.

From September 18 to 24, a number of schools that will serve as voting places and counting centres will be closed.

On September 19, after school, they are to be turned over to the Grama Niladhari authorities.
