Leader of the JVP/NPP Anura Kumara Dissanayake issued a challenge to President Ranil Wickremesinghe for a debate yesterday, pledging to answer all of the concerns raised by the latter.
Dissanayake stated, “We can’t tackle these serious issues by speaking from different stages,” during a gathering in Anamaduwa. What’s the point, he says in Welimada, and I answer in Anamaduwa? Let’s have a seat together so that I may answer your questions and you can ask mine.

“First, was it true that he referred to the Rajapaksas as thieves, or were they just untrue accusations? Was Wickremesinghe’s classmate Dinesh Gunawardena’s description of him as a thief accurate or was it a fabrication? Dissanayake posed the questions, highlighting that they were simple enquiries that Wickremesinghe ought to have no trouble responding to.
Before he could respond to any queries directly, Dissanayake stated that there was a need for clarity on the claims of theft that were made between the two sides.”The state has paid for the appointment of presidential advisors.
