The National People’s Power (NPP) presidential candidate, Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, emphasised the need of relieving Sri Lanka’s farmers of their debt.

Addressing to a gathering in Jaffna, the NPP presidential candidate continued, saying that the party intended to create a development bank with the goal of offering low-interest loans to farmers.

“Farmers must receive debt relief from us. The weight of their debt forces them to pawn the majority of their belongings. We have a well-thought-out plan to write off a certain portion of debt related to agriculture, which was developed using survey data. In addition, we intend to create a development bank that will offer loans with reduced interest rates. We have a strategy that will help farmers pay off their debts over time,” he stated.

Anura Kumara urges people to vote for the NPP directly.

Dissanayake said, “Ranil Wickremesinghe recently stated in Yapahuwa that voting for Sajith is the same as voting for Anura. He is saying that supporting Sajith with votes will help the NPP win. A vote for Ranil is same as a  to a vote for Anura, according to Sajith, who was speaking in Galle at the time.

Please refrain from voting for us through other parties, as we ask the people of our nation. Please vote without going thru Sajith or Ranil; we just want your votes directly. Thus, we notify Sajith and Ranil that their votes through other parties are not what we desire. Dissanayake declared, “Vote for the NPP and let’s form an NPP-led government.”

“The presidential election is scheduled for September 21st. Still, the parliament will be affected by its outcomes. It will send a good number of other MPs home in addition to sending Ranil home. You have tremendous power when you vote, he said.
