Following diligent diplomatic efforts by Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the High Commission in Kenya, High Commissioner Kana Kananathan has formally announced that Sri Lanka has been taken off Tanzania’s referral visa list. This is a significant development. With this accomplishment, a policy that required Sri Lankans to go through a drawn-out visa approval process in order to enter Tanzania has come to an end. The policy was in place for more than 20 years and was the result of extensive high-level discussions with the Tanzanian government.
This significant development has eliminated the need for lengthy wait times and extra steps by enabling Sri Lankans to apply for standard visas online. It is anticipated that this move will significantly streamline travel planning, making it easier and more convenient for Sri Lankans visiting Tanzania for leisure, business, or other reasons.
“Sri Lanka has been taken off Tanzania’s Referral Visa List, according to High Commissioner Kananathan.”
High Commissioner Kananathan thanked the Tanzanian government for this wise choice, pointing out that it highlights the solid and expanding relationship between Tanzania and Sri Lanka. He restated the government of Sri Lanka’s commitment to advancing and cultivating these bilateral ties.
Kananathan also exhorted the people of Sri Lanka to seize this chance.
He stated, “This milestone represents a reaffirmation of the mutual respect and cooperation between the two nations as well as a practical improvement for travellers.”
