Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku of Sri Lanka took home the Silver Medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw (F64) at the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.
In the process, Dulan broke his own World Record (66.49 meters) in the F44 category with a personal best distance of 67.03 meters.
At the Stade de France in Paris on Monday, India’s Sumit Antil successfully defended his gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw F64 category at the Paris Paralympics, surpassing his own record with a throw of 70.59 meters.

To start, Sumit threw 69.11 meters, breaking his own Paralympic Games record of 68.55 meters set in Tokyo 2020. In the following round, he once again exceeded the mark with an attempt of 70.59 meters.
At the Paris Paralympic Games, Dulan Kodithuwakku won the silver medal—Sri Lanka’s first—with a throw of 67.03 meters, which also set a new world record in the F44 category.
Michal Buran of Australia won the bronze with a distance of 64.89 meters.
At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, Kodituwakku won a bronze medal with a then-personal best distance of 65.61 meters. At the 2023 World Para Athletics World Championship in Paris, France, he had also won a bronze medal.
At the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan, he won silver in the Men’s F44/F64 Javelin Throw, setting a new world record in the F44 category with a throw of 66.49 meters.
Kodithuwakku, a Corporal with the Sri Lanka Army’s Military Police, competed in the Asian Para Games in Indonesia in 2018, the World Para Games in Dubai in 2019, and the National Para Games. At the World Para Athletics Championships 2019, he placed fourth in the men’s javelin throw (F46).
He is from Deniyaya and enlisted in the Sri Lanka Army on December 5, 2009.
