According to officials, a bus carrying passengers from India crashed into a river in Nepal, killing at least 14 people.
Based on reports, the bus carried about forty passengers from Pokhara to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
At the accident scene in the Tanahun district, rescue efforts are in progress along the banks of the Marsyangdi River.
Both the accident’s cause and the victims’ identities are still under investigation.

“The bus with the license plate UP FT 7623 fell into the river and is now lying on the riverbank,” Tanahun senior police official Deepkumar Raya was quoted by news agency ANI as saying. Uttar Pradesh, a state in northern India, is where the car is registered.Some of the victims were from the western state of Maharashtra, according to deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He wrote on X (previously Twitter), “We are in contact with the Uttar Pradesh government to bring the bodies of the deceased to Maharashtra in coordination with the Nepal government.”The bus’s mangled remains can be seen in videos taken at the scene of the accident lying next to a raging river at the foot of a hill. An army helicopter from Nepal has been dispatched to the scene of the accident with a medical team.
