Following a court order, an operation to look for gold, gems, cash, weapons, and ammunition thought to have been buried by the LTTE in Pudukuduirippu during the conflict began on last Saturday, 17th.
The Divisional Secretary, archaeology officials, and the Grama Niladhari from the area all participated in the operation, which was overseen by Mullaitivu Magistrate Dharmalingam Pradeepan.

The police reported to the Mullaitivu security forces about a location where the LTTE had concealed a cache of weapons, ammunition, gold, gems, and cash. This information led to the issuance of the court order.The excavation could be covered by the media. A total of about 34 locations were looked through, but nothing turned up. A senior military officer stated that while some people had provided information regarding the LTTE’s underground caches of gold, explosives, and other materials, the area’s topography had changed since the end of the conflict.
