From August 17 through August 31, US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Jennifer R. Littlejohn will visit Sri Lanka, India, and the Maldives.
According to the US Department of State, she will talk about a variety of topics while she is there, including promoting women and girls in STEM fields, plastic and air pollution, deforestation, crimes against nature, climate change, civil and commercial space activities, and the sustainable blue economy.
She will visit U.S.-supported wildlife protection projects, meet with government officials and partners, and look into ways to link Sri Lankans with U.S. experts in priority areas like hydrography and climate change. She will be in Sri Lanka from August 19 to 21.

Acting Assistant Secretary Littlejohn will meet with government representatives in India from August 21 to August 28 to discuss cooperation in scientific research, space exploration, wildlife trafficking prevention, and – in Chennai – assistance for river restoration via the Ambassador’s Water Experts Program.
She will also meet with representatives of environmental civil society, companies and research groups specialising in green technology, and academics working on clean energy and climate resilience initiatives.
She will meet with government and civil society partners in the Maldives from August 28 to 30, where she will wrap up her tour, to talk about collaborative efforts on climate resilience, environmental protection, and marine and wildlife conservation.
