A group of 10 officers from the most recent batch of Sri Lankan Foreign Service officers and 13 officers from other Sri Lankan Ministries and Offices attended a seven-day special course held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service, New Delhi. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka requested that the course be held, and it was.

Senior Indian officials and internationally recognised experts gave the participants in-depth knowledge on a range of subjects during the course, including Blue Economy, AI and Emerging Technologies, SDGs and Climate Change, Pandemics and Public Health Policy, Digital Empowerment & India Stack, Trade and Connectivity in the Indo-Pacific Region, and UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. As part of the course, on August 12th, the participants also paid a visit to Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Indian Minister of External Affairs.
In addition, the participants had the chance to take part in a yoga class and tour notable locations like the Taj Mahal, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Election Commission of India, Bharat Mandapam, and Maha Bodhi Buddhist Temple.The special course is an addition to the many capacity-building efforts that the Indian government is carrying out in response to the priorities of the Sri Lankan government. These initiatives include the allocation of more than 400 slots specifically for Sri Lanka under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program.
