Former England batsman Ian Bell has been named by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) as the team’s “Batting Coach” for the current tour.

According to a statement from the SLC, he will begin working with the team on August 16 and stay until the three-match test match series is over.

Ian Bell will be Sri Lanka’s batting coach for the England tour.

With 118 test matches under his belt, the former England batsman has amassed 7,727 runs at an average of 42.69 and 22 test hundreds.

“We assigned Ian the task of bringing in a local expert to provide the players with important context for the situation there. Ian has a wealth of experience playing in England, and we think his guidance will benefit our team during this important tour’, stated Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.
