In order to assist opposition leader Sajith Premadasa in his political endeavours, Dr. Sudarshanee Fernandopulle, a member of parliament who was elected in 2020 as a representative of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party for the Gampaha District, joined the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

She is the spouse of renowned politician Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, a Gampaha district representative in the Parliament. In the previous government, she served as the State Minister for Primary Health Services, Epidemiological Diseases, and Covid Disease Control in addition to her numerous deputy minister posts.
