“In Bangladesh, a mob torches a hotel, killing 24 people, including a foreigner”
Over the phone in Dhaka, a local journalist informed PTI, “Among the dead was an Indonesian national.”
The surviving hotel workers were concerned that more bodies might be discovered beneath the wreckage, but he said the doctors at Joshor General Hospital confirmed they had counted 24.According to media reports, an unidentified mob opposed to the Awami League (AL) regime set fire to the hotel’s ground floor, which swiftly spread to the upper stories.
Nearly identical reports emerged from all over the nation, detailing how the enraged crowd attacked the homes and businesses of numerous Awami League leaders and activists at the same time, including the organization’s headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue in the nation’s capital.
On Monday, Hasina’s resignation, her covert departure from Bangladesh, and her landing in India left the country in disarray, and the army took over to assume control. As word of Hasina’s departure spread, crowds in Dhaka and other regions of the country resorted to street violence, vandalised government property, and even broke into Hasina’s official residence, looting the interiors. This added to the already traumatised state of affairs in South Asia.
