According to Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, Sri Lanka will meet with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to begin discussions about resuming construction on an airport terminal that was put on hold following an agreement with official creditors.
After Sri Lanka declared a sovereign default in April 2022, Japan stopped lending money to the country.
“Next week, discussions about resuming the Japan-funded Sri Lanka airport terminal”
“The JICA will be visiting me next week,” Minister de Silva said to Colombo reporters. “The advantage of restructuring is that.”They have also committed to providing the extra funding required for the price increase.”
He stated that a new Japanese contractor must be chosen in order to finish the terminal.
