According to former Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya, some politicians continue to hold the belief that there exist citizens who will vote for them without question. He challenged them to prove it, saying that these politicians believe they can govern with the backing of 150 members of parliament in five or six years.

Deshapriya underlined that it is a serious offence to postpone elections, underscoring the significance of prompt and equitable electoral procedures.
