In Monday night’s LPL 2024 curtain-raiser, the Kandy Falcons defeated the Dambulla Sixers by six wickets with 16 balls remaining, thanks to an all-around performance of 3-20 and an unbeaten 46 by Dasun Shanaka.

In order to overcome a precarious 25/4 deficit and reach 179/4, the Dambulla Sixers needed the contributions of Mark Chapman (91 not out) and Chamindu Wickremasinghe (62 not out). However, their bowlers were unable to hold on.
