Chris Silverwood, the national team’s head coach, submitted his resignation from the role, citing personal reasons, according to a statement released by Sri Lanka Cricket.

“Working as an international coach requires extended time away from family and friends. I feel it’s time for me to go back home and spend some quality time with my family after having long talks with them and feeling sad,” Silverwood stated.

“I want to express my gratitude to the SLC management, backroom crew, coaches, and players for their support throughout my time in Sri Lanka. None of the success would have been possible without your help. “Being a part of Sri Lanka Cricket has been an incredible honour for me, and I will be leaving with many happy memories,” Silverwood continued.

During his leadership, the national team advanced to the finals of the 50-over Asia Cup in 2023 and won the T20 Asia Cup in 2022. The team also won multiple bilateral series, both domestically and internationally. These included two away test series victories over Bangladesh and a 50-over home series victory over Australia.
