Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition and SJB, has pledged to halt the issuance of any alcohol licences for political purposes.
Speaking at a gathering to donate a smart classroom to a Welipenna school, Premadasa declared that “I will suspend all such liquor permits before the end of the year.”
“Sajith promises to stop paying MPs “bribes” for liquor licences.”
According to Premadasa, some opposition MPs received permits to purchase beer and hard liquor in exchange for their support. He claimed that the MPs’ families, close friends, or relatives had received those alcohol licences.
Future alcohol licences would be granted in a proper manner, according to the leader of the opposition.
