In honour of Poson Poya Day, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has freed 289 prisoners.Prisons Spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake stated that 263 male and 06 female inmates serving sentences for minor offences were released in accordance with Article 34 of the Sri Lankan Constitution.The Department of Prisons reports that 19 inmates from Welikada Prison, 30 from Mahara Prison, 30 from Wariyapola Prison, and 28 from Kalutara Prison were among the pardoned prisoners.
