Tangalle in the Hambantota district is an old tourist destination, but survived for many years without the notice of the Tourism authority until lately.
The beaches of the deep south of Sri Lanka are always magnificently attractive, but Kahandamodera off Ranna stands out from the rest. About 5 kilometres off the main Hambantota road, the virgin unspoilt beach of Kahandamodera reawakened in early 2012 with the birth of RANNA 212.
